What if I practice & still don’t know if I’m doing it right?

Don’t worry.  Give us a call or send us an email, we would love to hear from you.  Our goal is to help every parent learn how to carry their baby in a sling so that both parent and baby can develop a healthy relationship together with constant interaction.  Whether you carry your baby in a sling or not, your baby will thrive with consistent interaction and will develop and nurture his/her brain as he/she is held.  We encourage using a baby sling so that both parents and babies are comfortable and have the baby product that will be quick, easy and long lasting!

How do I wash my baby sling?

Your baby sling can be gently machine washed in cold and tumble dried on low.  As with all cotton items, hanging your sling to dry will keep your colors brighter longer.  Any slings with metallic or nylon should also be hung to dry.

How do I hold my newborn in a ring baby sling?

Newborns love to be on your chest.  Tighten your sling so that your baby’s head is lying above your chest and the sling is up to the top of your baby’s neck.  Your baby’s legs and feet will easily tuck completely into the sling like a pouch.  Make sure your sling is snuggly holding your baby and you keep one hand on your baby’s head until your baby has good head control.  You may also gently lay your baby into the sling making sure you can see his/her head.  Tighten or loosen your sling to get a custom fit.

How do I hold my newborn in a pouch baby sling?

When your baby is newborn, gently lay your baby into the pouch of the sling making sure you can see his/her head.  Your baby’s bottom should be at the seam of the pouch.  Once your baby has good upper body control, you can sit him/her up in the pouch facing you, on your hip, or facing out with his/her legs tucked or crossed in the pouch.

What do I do if my baby wants to stand, not sit?

No problem.  Loosen your ring baby sling so that your baby can stand in the sling.  There is plenty of fabric to hold your baby’s legs up to their back.  Make sure they are standing in what looks like a deep pocket.  Then be sure to tighten your sling on the edges so that it is snug around your baby’s torso.

What is the weight limit for a Nadine Sling?

A Nadine Sling can be used to carry your baby until they are about 2 years old or 35 pounds.  Most toddlers outgrow the need to be held before they become too heavy for the sling.  If at any time your sling feels too heavy or hurts your back, immediately stop using your sling.  Everyone is different and not everyone will be able to tolerate 35 pounds of anything on their back.  As a general rule, you should be okay carrying your baby until they are able to walk along side of you, about 2 years old.

What is the difference between a pouch & a ring sling?

Both carriers will keep your baby close, safe and stimulate brain development because your baby will be constantly interacting with you.  A pouch baby sling is the easiest sling type carrier to learn.  The reason for this is because it is fitted to your size and there is no adjusting.  You just put it over your head and pop your baby in.  The ring baby sling is used for parents who want more versatility in their sling.  The ring sling can be adjusted to fit any size baby and any size parent.  It allows you to hold your newborn snuggly upon your chest and your toddler to completely lie down to nap.  Although it may take a week or two more of practice to get the hang of it, many parents appreciate the comfort & versatility.  The shoulder area is also more supportive because of the extra fabric used in a Nadine ring sling.  Nursing moms also prefer a ring sling because it offers a wider pouch that can easily be used to nurse anywhere discreetly.

How does a pouch sling work?

A baby pouch is a fitted baby carrier that will carry your baby from infancy to toddler years.  A newborn will be carried in a reclined/sleeping position until they have good head control.  As your baby grows, he/she can sit up facing you or on your hip.  Although a pouch is fitted, you may slightly snug up your baby by flipping out the fabric in the shoulder area.  Detailed instructions will be included with your pouch.

Why do I need to adjust my ring sling?

An adjustable sling will always give you the ability to have that perfect fit no matter what age or size your baby is.  A ring sling will allow you to hold your newborn snuggly upon your chest by tightening the top side of the sling around your baby’s upper back.  The wide width of the sling will allow your toddler to completely lie down to nap.  Nursing moms enjoy the adjustable sling with wider fabric to be able to nurse discreetly anywhere.  Postpartum moms frequently lose the baby weight & need a product that will always fit them.  It is also a bonus when dads are able to carry the baby using the same sling.

Will I really be able to nurse discreetly with my ring baby sling?

Nursing your baby is a learning process for both mom and baby.  As you and your baby get to know each other, nursing will become a beautiful routine that will get easier with time.  As you practice with your baby sling, you will become familiar with the way the fabric flows through the rings to tighten or loosen your sling.  When you first start using your sling to nurse, loosen your sling, recline your baby, and gently pull your baby’s legs together to one side so that you may nurse on the other side.  The sling should be around your baby’s body like a hammock.  Relax, lean forward slightly, and latch on your baby before trying to readjust your sling.  The sling is made with enough fabric to hold your baby very securely and also cover your breast up to your shoulder.  As with everything, the more you practice, the better you’ll be at nursing your baby everywhere you go!

Where can I use my baby sling?

You can take your sling everywhere you go.  It is great for quick errands, cleaning house, the grocery store, the mall, crowded places, and anywhere a stroller can’t go!  A baby sling is great at the doctor’s office, the park, stadiums, and graduations and for going up stairs.

What else can I use my baby sling for?

Your sling is wonderful for many things such as a blanket to keep warm, over your infant car seat & blocking the sun in the car, or tucked under your toddler’s chin to keep her head from bobbling when she falls asleep in the toddler car seat.  The tail of the sling also works as an emergency Kleenex.  Some use their sling pocket to keep car keys, cell phone, or an extra diaper & wipes.
